Coilin is found in the nuclear coiled bodies (CBS) or Cajal bodies, which are involved in snRNP and snoRNP biogenesis and posttranscriptional modification of newly assembled spliceosomal snRNAs. CBS are located in the interchromatin space between the nucleolus and the nucleus.The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200178 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human coilin. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
